While working at a hospital, I gained experience operating and maintaining work computers and various systems related to hospital operations. Later, I had the opportunity to build on that knowledge in a more practical way by attending a new school.
However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the school wasn’t offering in-person classes, so I had to take the courses online. The school was located on the eastern side of Toronto, which was already physically challenging to commute to, but I wanted to overcome these limitations. To do that, I set up a home lab and equipped it with the necessary tools to practice and develop my skills.
I was able to work with routers and switches essential for CISCO networking, and I installed a virtualization solution on a used Dell server, which allowed me to run multiple virtual servers. The hands-on experience and know-how I gained during this time have continued to be a valuable asset to this day.
